Lou Rawls, Garfield, and The Book

When I got home, when I got to my parents house, I was ashamed to cross the threshold after hanging out all night. I looked like a hitchhiker. My hair looked a fright, clothes wrinkled and without shape, sleep in my eyes, breath stank enough to blow fireballs. I left home the previous night around six pm, here it is two pm the following day. I came in, went upstairs to my pink and lilac room, got on one of the twin beds and proceeded to take the stale clothes off. I ran a tub of water, brushed my teeth and hair while the pedestal tub filled. Once full, I slid in the hot water and Garfield the Cat began to massage my back.

In a rich deep voice unlike the on he has on his show, he asked, “Would you like me to pour you a glass of wine?”

“You are truly too good to me, old friend.”

Garfield and I went way back. I was his number one fan. I watched all of the holiday specials and read his comics in the newspaper. He even had books full of comics that I would check out at the library. Through out my life I collected anything with his image. In my teenage years Garfield starred in his own series “Garfield and Friends.” But, I didn’t meet Garfield until my adulthood. I meet him at an exclusive club that Tisha won tickets to a celebrity event. At first I didn’t notice him in his Versace suit, and black velveteen Kangol. He and Samuel L. Jackson were amazed that they both wore the same designer. Then all eyes were on me because I had on a black leather Fedora style Kangol and they loved it on me. We talked all night, Garfield and I. He instantly fell in love with me. Not the kind of romantic love, but a chum, buddy, you are my friend type of love. He found out that Virginia was truly for lovers, yet quite different from Paris where he frequents. In Virginia Garfield could relax from the hounding paparazzi and fainting women. Also, he wanted to keep an eye on me, his “dearest Carmen.”

“I know what you’ll enjoy when you get out of the tub. I’ll run downstairs and fix you a little something to eat?”

“Oh no Garfield, you do too much for me already.”

“We must have a little lasagna, I made it last night and there’s a little left over. You know Macavity almost out ate me. That’s my kind of guy. All I have to do is pop it in the oven.”

“Well if you insist.”

“Let me run along then. I must see where that sexy Grizzabella scattered off to.”

I love that little girl. Maybe I’ll serenade her with a song or two.” He has an outstanding voice, sort of like Lou Rowles. He wiped his hands dry on a thick white towel, folded it and placed it on the hamper. He then popped open a bottle of Champaign, poured me a glass and one for him, and toasted to love and lasagna. As he opened the door, I felt coolness all over my body.

Hump. ‘Damn, Garfield the Cat.’ The water was cold, so I ran some more hot water. ‘Warming up lasagna’. Champaign?’ I looked around and there was no Champaign. I bathed myself in a soft floral bath gel. I got out and grabbed the thick white towel on the hamper. It was damp.

Maxwell, Mike Epps, Notorious, The Cuddler

From time to time I get an email or comment that needs it's on blog post.

This is one of those important comments...

Anonymous: love him, but the video...either he is a ghost visiting women who have lost a Significant Other or he is creepin' with all those ladies! I choose to believe the first cause, he kind of disappears at the end of the video, hey I have a S.O but still wouldn't mind a spooning from Maxwell...glad he's back!

Anon, I recently learned about the Red Box, the rent a dvd for $1 vending machine. I'm used to getting bootleg movies or watching them on the internet. I know with the economy the way it is people have to cut back. I think the bootleg movie man sold me previously watched movies. The dvds were all sticky on the back like somebody was eating honey buns. My patience level has depleted with downloading movies, so I had to give the Red Box a try.

We rented Notorious and Mike Epps. Notorious shared a lot about how he was able to pull beautiful women, Lil' Kim and Faith. His life before Puffy. His relationship with his mother and friends. There was a lot of Tupac too.

Mike Epps' stand up in Funny Bidness was horrible. Him on the streets was awful. But the skits were silly in a Dave Chappelle fashion. But nowhere near Charlie Murphy's skits.

How does all of this tie in? Read Anon's comment again and then watch this clip!

Maxwell & Prince

I finally got Prince's three disc combo. I've already picked out my favorites on the Lotus cd with Boom at the top. Thinking back the last cd I bought was a Prince's Musicology and I still get tickled over Call My Name.

I was looking for Maxwell, just hoping that maybe, just maybe the people had the release date incorrect since one of the stations has started playing Pretty Wings.

What do you think about Pretty 'Wangs'?

My locks were completed on February 22, 2008. I wanted to do a video for it and that's how long it took for me to actually do the video.

Any Good News?

I read CNN on my phone all of the time. Lately it's just been news ranging from horrible to hideous to what is going on in the world today?

Here are some of the news as I see it. A man steals a plane, runs it into a mall, killing himself and five year old son. Wife has to sell items of heirlooms of her famous Rabbi husband because Madoff robbed them blind. A man kills ten people and himself because he didn't live up to his own dreams. Preacher shot dead during church service. Student kills several because he was picked on at school. Japan is launching destroyers because Somalian pirates are raiding ships. I like to think of it as self defense because what would you do if somebody kept dumping radio active mess in your backyard. Skipping Rihanna and Chris Brown because that's why people stay out of domestic problems. We can tell them time and time again to leave, but sometimes they don't. Moving onto BeBe Winans pushing down his ex-wife in front their children. I was a bit taken back at how nice BeBe looks compared to when he was in the Heaven video.

Onto the good news of Michael Jackson selling out in 4 hours. Who's Bad?

Now with me, I could go on and on about what I hate and what gets on my nerves but I won't. So, what's good with me? I went home last week and had a ball with my parents and they did my taxes.

I finally bought a new printer. I hope everyone who's made purchases appreciates the packing slips. I was getting tired of plugging up my old laptop and old printer to my air card. Everything was moving at snails pace making that part of getting orders out a chore.

My hair is locking and people can actually recognize my hair as locks now! As for the nape. The bunching has gotten out of hand on the two outer most bottom locks so I took them out. The hair will remain unlocked for now. I have one lock left on that row and he will probably be taken aloose too.

I have been dating the same guy with no cheating for an entire year. I'm still not posting any pictures just in case, lol. I do have two of us in my Facebook album.

I have been tinkering with the idea of getting a tattoo. If I punk out I'll get something pierced. I really like the guy above. His name is Kokopelli. He is Native fertility god, prankster, healer and story teller who also helps winter turn into spring with his flute. I personally like to think that he plays the Frankie Knuckles The Whistle Song.

Do you have any good news?

She Works Hard for the Money

I've been watching a lot of Donna Summer videos and today I have really channeled my inner Ms. Summer. Everyone knows that I work 12 hour night shift 4 nights a week, right? Well, this week and every other week from now until...I'll be working 5 days 12 hours. Mo' money, mo' money, mo' money! I'm tired though, lol. I would post a video, but the ones I like get removed from YouTube. I listened to Donna's 'I Feel Love' about 25 times. If you have the time YouTube it!

I might be doing a little wholesale gig coming up. Wish me luck.
This is Mr. Neighbor. My how his hair has grown. It's longer than the pictures show. I'm no stylist but I think this came out pretty decent for my first try. I think I'll start it up farther to the forehead because it gets to thick at the nape. I told him I wasn't doing his hair anymore because it's gotten so pretty.

His locks were retightened with a crochet needle using the Sisterlock method.

Tagged

Recently, I was tagged by the lovely jewelry maker, L'elephant Rose.

The rules:

1. Place a link to the person that tagged you

2. List seven unusual things about yourself

3. Tag (and link to) seven other artists at the end of your post, and post on their blogs to let them know they’ve been tagged.

And now...Here's Grace

1. I found out that Grace Jones has a new album. Grace is 60+, wears shiny, polymer stockings, a leotard, and sometimes something over it, while her handsome, dreadlock wearing son plays in the band behind her. Grace Jones is beautiful and she rocks. I really like this song and performance.

2. I'm writing a guide for selling crafts online. It will share how to market for free and how to keep from being a slave to your product.

3. I like to party. I thought I was out of it, but who really gets out of going out, dancing, and loud dirty south music? The jump off song is 'Star' by T.I.

I thought the list was whittled down to 6 habits/quirks. It will go back to six with this post, lol.

4. I dream alot and I practice interpreting dreams. Whenever I'm in trouble with my parents, I have the same dream. We are packing/driving to escape a flood.

5. I do not like cheese, unless it's on a pizza. I've met others like me, so it's not that odd. Mozzarella doesn't have that dry, waxy, sharp, bitter, and in general nasty taste.

6. I'm a social network fiend. I have joined so many ning.com groups that my bookmark toolbar is about full. My last ning.com group will be iseecolor.ning.com. I have a few membership badges in the right column . Just now learning about Facebook. I've found nearly half my high school buddies. I even found a long lost buddy and his wife - we all went to school together. Twitter is the shonuff. I have stopped getting on yim. I have nearly abandoned LockItUp and LovinLocs. My blog has become a showcase of what I found while on Twitter. Why? Twitter has thousands of people on there all the time. If it's 4am I can talk to folks in Cali or the UK.

7. I'll do seven quirks. I'm a night owl. My best thoughts come after midnight.

Who am I tagging? Any artist who can't decide on a topic for the next post.

Need a Laugh - BigCatTrucker is Your Man

@BigCatTrucker is one of my Twitter friends and an actual truck driver. If you don't tweet, then you're missing out on connecting with some really good people. @BigCatTrucker is starting his own show in the new year and shared this with us. He has his own channel on youtube so befriend him and subscribe to his videos. I'm on there, so do the same for me as well.

I laughed so hard at this video that I had to share this with everyone. If you like it, please leave comments here or on his page. The support doesn't cost anything, just a little time.

@BigCatTrucker tweeted "my show coming to youtube in Feb 09, look out for it gots some big hitters coming to the show"

The young man in the video is one of @BigCatTrucker's friends Toby and one of the many funny people that will be featured on the show.

No Cable - Prison Break - Love

So I don't have cable, but I should not have to miss out on the show that has my mother so involved that she can barely talk. When she said that she was watching Prison Break, I was like how good can a prison movie be on regular tv. She gave PB a B+ as compared to the A+ she gave OZ. Now there are no naked men, so that does take it down from an A+ to and A already. But after watching the first season of PB, I must say this show is the shonuff shizznit. I'm involved. I love the show. It's so good. I might hold out on the second season. LOL. Imma start the first episode right now. HAHAHAHA.

This is for all the hours that was not watching cable when I had cable.

U.T.F.O - Taking a Break

You Cold Wanna Be With Me

I remember this song. Yes I was young. I would do my homework watching videos. My parents finally got cable. And because of me they got call waiting. How dare my parents' friends break the line while I'm on the phone. Back then the operator would break through call to tell you that somebody else was calling. And the old tv we had went up to 13 and had these extra numbers we didn't know about on the dial. So one day my sister's friend came over and turned and turned the dial until MTV came on. Talk about the shizznit.

I always though Doctor Ice was hot - the one in the yellow wind breaker then the red. And Kangol Kid (guess which one) puts it down with the singing around 2:25. Oh my goodness. The best gift for me would be to receive this in a cd and have it rocked several times in a sweet fly car with a booming system.

I love music used to work at Willie's Records back in the day too. Anyways, I wish rap lyrics were better today. At least they are bringing back dancing. This song right here is a gem. I hope I'm not the only one who remembers this. Thank God for my sister. I would have never experienced this on my own.

Well, ladies, I'll be gone for a minute. I'm going to take a break from the computer. It's becoming as evil as tv I see. The socializing is keeping me from actually to talking people I know. One night after work, I stayed up watching a whole season of OZ. And the YouTube has me wanting to sell my cell in order to get a freaking iPhone to watch YouTube. Then I'm getting upset with people and Ciara when I can't find the right combination of words to google a song. I can conjugate the word google flawlessly in a sentenced. I Googled it. Google it. I'm Googling it now. And I started on YouTube too.

How did you find that video? I YouTubed it. Yet I have to sound out length to spell it.

The last thing was when I sent a link to a buddy and he asked, "what is this". I can see the attitude in his font. The way he said 'what is this' instead of 'what's this' means he wasn't going to watch it until I told hin. Well, I didn't tell him. I did cuss him out and then I explained to him that if I sent it then it must be important to me and he must be important to me cause I shared it with him. Then I got upset for somebody yim me during the middle of the song and I could hear the pop up in my head phones. So I had to mute the yim volume.

I Hated This Song

Jill Scott. When she came to me and was like, this is my first album I want you to listen to it. I listened Jill, went out and bought it in support of you. Everything was cool. You even did a little go-go for me. You knew I was missing Go-Go.

We had so much in common. We are both natural, fat, and cute as a button. We had our differences, I hate eggs, you like them with grits and toasts. It's all good. But then you started wearing them wigs. I understand, HOLLYWOOD. Fast forward. You posed nude in Allure and did not hook me up with the deal? I should have known then something was wrong. I thought with the butterfly bras you were feeling good. You said you had a new album coming out. I was busy and didn't get a chance to hear it before you released it. I dropped the ball. I was busy with Rhianna and Amy Winehouse. So when I heard My Love, my heart sank. What is this ultra pitiful - my cut buddy married somebody else song? Floored. Not another woman singing the blues over some man that left you for another women. This type of song makes me wanna scream and throw up.

Beyonce has always pulled through for me. And did not let me down in her take your ass on then, I don't need you with the To the Left song.

Recently, I started letting Rhianna into my circle of friends. Jay-Z asked me to. I told him Umbrella was a bit nerve racking. He was like - what do I have to do to make you listen to her? I went to the next subject. Finally, he spit a few lyrics on the song. After listening through 500 ella ella ella a's just to hear his rap, I found the song cute enough. I liked SOS because she used the 80s version of Tainted Love by Soft Cell which I liked anyways. Then of course I secretly liked Marylin Mason's versions too, the video was alright. It would be hot if RhiRhi and MM would do this dominatrix style on a willing fan. I would like to push the Pussy Cat Dolls down a long flight of concrete steps for their version. Gloria Jones originally recorded the song in 1964. I guess each decade has their own version. Here is the first one - the best one in my opinion.

Tangent moment...
Jill Scott and My Love. Yes, even Rhianna knows better than to cry on a track and look like the pitiful can't get a man so I'll cry about it in a song. She knew her man was sorry and got rid of him. PLEASE. Jill, he married that woman. You had 5 other men you were seeing. He took a bow and the curtain closed. Basically he freed up your time so you can focus on the one you saw at the grocery store that wanted to holla. You lost one and gained another. You're back to five menz. Now I know this is a song and sometimes songs don't really reflect what's going on with the artist. She wrote that song. This is as pitiful as Vista's Congratulations. It's like what Betty Wright's mother said, "I like the melody, but I know you not gonna sing that song." I mean sing anything over the melody. Sing about food, you've mentioned grits and two scrammbled eggs, gravy, biscuits, black-eyed peas.

My Cake - chorus hook
My cake is sweeter, lighter, moist-er
Didn't you notice
Here is a big piece

That's multi-platinum - diamond even - hollar at me girl.

So, I had to check out Jill to see how she's doing. Hoping she didn't make a video. And there it was, her crying in the video. Dammit Jill, get a hold of yourself. Get rid of that wig. If you are going to wear a wig, get one bigger than that. So, I'm still trying to help Jill and I see a live version. She got rid of the wig and is wearing a high top fade looking natural. I'm feeling better for her, no wig which she really looks uncomfortable wearing in the video since she keeps fooling with it. Now in this live - 8 minute long - version it starts off as normal but she ends with some extra love that makes me feel so much better about our relationship. Jill we are friends again.

Do I Do - Roll Out

I will be laid off from my job until Wednesday. I'm a little bit sad about missing my money since I cannot draw unemployment on my first roll out. Roll out is a nice way of saying - temporary lay off. Good Times.

Well, so what. I have a client coming tomorrow for a consultation. Another comes Monday for a consultation. Then Miss T comes Tuesday for a retightening.

Meanwhile, I got gas on my paypal debit/charge card. Why did they take out $125. It's still pending so I hope that's just a credit check to make sure they aren't getting robbed with a maxed out card. Let's hope. For the past few weeks somebody has been messing with my loot. One week I didn't get paid. Then another week they sent my live check in the mail instead of putting it in my hand. Sprint has been charging me $25 for text messaging when I have the simply everything plan that includes it - Since NOVEMBER. I got credited for that though. I'm sick of waking up Monday bright and early to correct mistakes about my money. Whole weekend be messed up until Lover comes.

On the way to the post office I heard one of my all time favorite jams. Not the new Jockin Jay-Z, but Stevie Wonder's Do I Do.

Now it would be a great pleasure to share the live Do I Do. BUT. Did you know that Stevie can play the drums?

5 days off and I gotta work.

Good Hair Video

Hello Ladies, here's another video on how to put on the alphabet line such as Good Hair. Hope you like it. I'm talking. This took four times to do. Talk is much harder. It only took me one time to do the first video.

SurfTheChannel

Why haven't yall told me about this??? Shame on you! Surfthechannel.com is a site where you can watch tv episodes and movies. I'm breaking from watching The PJ's.

1. http://surfthechannel.com
2. download foxfire as your browser. Now I used to didn't know what a browser was. It's what you use to search the net. Like Internet Explorer and Netscape. If you have IE - STC hates it and the videos won't play
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
3. download a gang of adobe stuff. I think I did shockwave and flash and make sure it really installs. That's what I was doing wrong. I thought the program was installed but it was just qued up to install. Vista is crazy.

After you do all of that, you can watch everything!!!

Slide, Slide, Slippity Slide

My hair isn't slipping as much after I shampoo it. Only two came completely aloose. I combined six locks because they keep slipping and were too skinny to begin with. Some of them have gaps in them from where they are settling near the ends and then expanding everywhere else. I really don't think my hair likes Sisterlocks, but it's never really liked any style. I'll will do another round of sliding the pattern down and retightening it. I have found that this helps keep bunching down, makes my lock more uniform, and speeds the locking process by keeping the lock in the pattern. It's time consuming, so I do a few while watching YouTube.

The video of this post will be Fantastic Voyage--Lakeside.

Congratulations to Mama who just bought a Cadillac. I told her I was going to get her Rich Boy's cd so she play Throw some D's on That. I think Aretha's Pink Cadillac will do even though it's not pink. Ooh, more videos to google.

You Are My Friend

I've been really horrible at keeping in contact with my peoples. I had a good friend to call me today and I was in the process of finding out that a Mazda is an extra special car when it comes to doing minor things. I was at AutoZone and usually they put headlights in, but my passenger side light is tricky. The washer fluid is right behind the light. So the whole container has to come out first.

She's telling me that she has health problem and there's this old man telling me it might be a fuse. The cashier is trying to find the part in the computer and wondering why it says 8 are in stock, but there's only 4. I need just one, ring it up.

It's 500 degrees out, I'm hot, gotta run to the post office, hungry, need to deposit a check. The cop came knocking at 4:45am to tell me my trunk was open. Close it and leave, thank you. Ciara all amped up over my trunk being open. Neither one of could sleep. I meant to get the bottled water out and got busy doing something else. It's my first day as a true employee at the job and I can't be late. I gotta leave there and run over to Precision Tune. Mister Old Man is starting to look like a short, skinny Al Sharpton. Is your hair really honey blond with curls like Terrence in Hustle & Flow? I had to think about Terrence Trent D'arby and how tight his pants were in that video, like those boxer briefs - black spandex boxer briefs, the long ones and the muscles in his buttocks in the bathroom brushing his teeth to block this old man with his honey blond curls. Debit.

My buddy is telling me about a granola recipe and I'm worried about getting stopped leaving work cause my headlight is out. Olive oil and granola don't sound right, what happened to peanut oil or just some regular vegetable oil. Olive oil? I love you to pieces, but I'm thinking about how I didn't get paid Friday and I haven't gotten a call back from the people yet. The temp service has no power cause a truck ran into a pole and they thought I started on the 6th or whatever. I haven't gotten a call back about my front porch post leaning like the Tower of Pisa either. Somebody has time to cook granola. I got taxes to pay and my friend is asking me about my hair. Yes, I'm going to somebody closer, right there by my gig. I do feel like I'm cheating on your. I apologize. Then there comes the phrase that I keep hearing, I always seem to catch you at a bad time, you are busy. I can see Lover's smile and feel Ciara's fur. Happy place, Ciara's fur, Lover's smile. Group hug.

I always answer my phone. If I don't then I'm probably at work actually working or having sex, about to have sex, or just finished having sex. Neighbor, you knew Lover was over and came in with spirits. Don't be key, key, keying and apologizing and grinning hard cause I didn't answer the door. He was not parked in your spot. Stop the madness. You know his car.

Dee, you know I ain't got all the answers. And thank you for making me laugh when the stuff behind the scences makes me want to shut the whole site down and practice skipping beads on a lake.

My parents, my sister I love you until the end of time. I know I call with some outlandish mess. I'm crazy, but it's hard out here for a chick. Root little pig or die. Papa may have, Mama may have, but God bless the child that's got her own. I'm trying to keep from moving in with y'all. Sister, when was the last time that you heard me say, Sister, my sister I love you. I think it was Saturday.

I made it home! Safe. The only thing I forgot was my resume which was all good because the lady wasn't at work. The only thing I have to do tomorrow is wait for a response to an email, read and respond to an email, get my resume, and check on my money, and work. Easy day.

Anyways, the best time to catch me is from 1:30am until 5:30am. Well, actually, that's my YouTube time.

I watched a few Patti Labelle videos of her singing You Are My Friend. I wanted a really special dedication, not something for y'all to laugh at. But, Patti as usual took it way, way there. All the way out there over the rainbow, put the pot of gold in her cleavage, and the spun all over the leprechaun's lucky charms. Why did you have to do all of that Patti?

I picked Faith Evans. I have always like the 'la la la' part of this song. I wish I could sing.

My Health

If you don't remember, I have PCOS and anemia. With the combination of the two, my period would come on when it felt like it. Since December my period started coming more frequently, about 45 days. Then since March my period has been coming on about every 30 days. How grand is that. How did I get it to regulate itself? I don't know. HAHAHA. I prayed about it and stopped taking a gang of pills. I hate Metformin. Each month is a gamble though. I calculate when it's supposed to come on. Sometimes I can feel it sometimes I don't. It's usually comes overnight. When I wake up and I'm on my period, I can hear the Wayan's Brothers singing, "Gimme a high five." The first two days, I'm excited and checking up on it. The last three days, I'm beside myself in disbelief that women have to work. I'm tired as hell, I'm already anemic and my comprehension level is shot. And I start talking about getting a powered mobility chair.

I had a physical during my last period. You know you have to fast for those. Here it is 2pm. I feel and look like a zombie. I was not giving blood for the life of me. First off, you can see every vein in my arm, use the butterfly needle, and don't dig all around my arm. So after about 10 minutes I was bled for two vails. I'm looking at the my blood knowing I'm going to dead soon. Then blood pressure time. I sat through two squeezings and the machine couldn't register my pressure. Why? And I don't know if it's just me, but that hurts. I had to look over at the thing. "When is you gonna stop that? Get off me." The nurse did it manually and it was 90/60. Then I had to go to work. I fatasized about me in a HoveRound at the Grand Canyon.

You know I YouTubed it and here it is the best use of a HoveRound.

Me & My YouTube

Well, since I have a super duper fast computer and an aircard, I've been on YouTube like crazy. See, before when my friends would share a video it would was painful to watch. I would get like 5 seconds of the video, it would have to load, 5 more seconds, load.... As a matter of fact everything was difficult and I would have to remind people, "Hold on, you know my Commodor is slow." "You're trying to blow up my TI?" "You know the Commodor has limits." "I can't watch the video and chat." "I only have two programs open!" "It can't do both, it's either or matters here." "Call me then, this is stressful to the TI."

Well, I really don't know why I was on Terrence Trent D'arby. I hadn't heard his songs in a minute. Oh, I heard a Prince song and thought about TTD. Well, after googling I found that his name is actually Terrence Howard and is now Sananda Maitreya and that he was once blond. So, then I went to D'angelo and found J'sun singing one How Does It Feel. J'sun has a wonderful voice.
