Mrs. K & Blog Hopping
I've also had issues with my computer. I've had my laptop for a year now and on my fourth battery adapter and the backspace button fell off. Yes, I'm hard on my laptop.
Blah, blah, blah - You came for the Sisterlocks, right??? This is Mrs. K. I think I have a few clients who's name start with K - Keisha, Katrina who's self-retightening, and Kathryn.
If you look at Mrs. K's hair you'd think - relaxed ends - that's her hair curled on sponge rollers. Her hair is basically straight with a little kink to it, like poodle fur. Her testers stayed in after 2 shampoos, roller setting, and I suspect OIL!!! Her install took 12.5 hours over 3 days.
If you browse through the blog and you know a little something, something about Sisterlocks, then you're probably pondering, 'Why doesn't she have her certification???' I'm working on it! When I made my last video, I said I wasn't going to do it because of time. It's amazing how you'll find time for people who want what you can do. Also, I have had a nice donation for my best supporters. Thank you Mom & Dad for your love, the beads, and support!

I Have a Studio Sorta
Can you believe I've never been to Cape Hatteras? I'm saving that trip to go with somebody special!
My mother painted the one in the corner on wood. Dad did the trim. Ain't they sweet!

It's My Birthday
It's 6:21am and I couldn't wait to get off of work to open my presents that I bought myself. It's my birthday and I'm excited. Over the weekend my parents and I went on a road trip to see my sister, Tomoka, in Atlanta. We did not hit any tourist spots because we've been there and done that before. My father really did want to go to the aquarium. And you know, I really wanted to see Andre 3000, maybe next time.
We did go shopping! The first stop was the Coach outlet where I found my happy birthday gifts! I also bought a black floral dress that allows for a lot of cleavage and leg. I will wear that this weekend while I continue to celebrate my birthday into the first week of May. I also bought another lady shaver. I don't even know which kind I got. It was under $20 at Wal-Mart. I had a gift card there, otherwise.... I think this will be the fourth one. I keep dropping them in shower and the replacement screens and blades are just as expensive as the the entire shaver itself.
Update: There's a give-away going on so please visit On the Road to Queendom. She's giving away some of the prettiest lock/twist adornments that I've ever seen. One has a peacock feather!

Any Good News?

I read CNN on my phone all of the time. Lately it's just been news ranging from horrible to hideous to what is going on in the world today?
Here are some of the news as I see it. A man steals a plane, runs it into a mall, killing himself and five year old son. Wife has to sell items of heirlooms of her famous Rabbi husband because Madoff robbed them blind. A man kills ten people and himself because he didn't live up to his own dreams. Preacher shot dead during church service. Student kills several because he was picked on at school. Japan is launching destroyers because Somalian pirates are raiding ships. I like to think of it as self defense because what would you do if somebody kept dumping radio active mess in your backyard. Skipping Rihanna and Chris Brown because that's why people stay out of domestic problems. We can tell them time and time again to leave, but sometimes they don't. Moving onto BeBe Winans pushing down his ex-wife in front their children. I was a bit taken back at how nice BeBe looks compared to when he was in the Heaven video.
Onto the good news of Michael Jackson selling out in 4 hours. Who's Bad?
Now with me, I could go on and on about what I hate and what gets on my nerves but I won't. So, what's good with me? I went home last week and had a ball with my parents and they did my taxes.
I finally bought a new printer. I hope everyone who's made purchases appreciates the packing slips. I was getting tired of plugging up my old laptop and old printer to my air card. Everything was moving at snails pace making that part of getting orders out a chore.
My hair is locking and people can actually recognize my hair as locks now! As for the nape. The bunching has gotten out of hand on the two outer most bottom locks so I took them out. The hair will remain unlocked for now. I have one lock left on that row and he will probably be taken aloose too.
I have been dating the same guy with no cheating for an entire year. I'm still not posting any pictures just in case, lol. I do have two of us in my Facebook album.
I have been tinkering with the idea of getting a tattoo. If I punk out I'll get something pierced. I really like the guy above. His name is Kokopelli. He is Native fertility god, prankster, healer and story teller who also helps winter turn into spring with his flute. I personally like to think that he plays the Frankie Knuckles The Whistle Song.

Miss S, Ties, Mama's Paintings, Twiggies
Miss S's Small Sisterlocks
Miss A's Large Sisterlocks
In my last post some hours ago, I said that I needed a break from the computer in order to reflect on my life. I did and was able to get complete some projects that I started and went to dinner with a friend. Well what really happened was Lover came over and got on the computer. In panic of what to do, I started making ties and stuff. He helped design the earrings for Sky Blue and the GTOD twiggie. We were both hungry and went out. I was already to cook a bagged frozen skillet dinner in the rice cooker.
Miss D came over yesterday and I forgot to take pictures. What was I thinking?
Miss S came over today and I had the camera waiting on her. She's taken pictures before so I knew she'd be ready even though she's another client that hates to smile. I know I look Asian by the time my cheeks close my eyes when I smile, but I love to smile for the camera. Which brings up a good song - Peg by Steely Dan. I know that song via De La Soul's Eye Know. Blah, blah, blah.
As you can tell I love the slide show thing. It is so easy. I've used the picaso thing and that required too much work. I don't need double copies of stuff. As soon as I open the program - the pictures in my Kodak file start transfering. Who has time for that? Not me. Then it's just a boring collage. BOO.
I've included pictures of Miss S. She tied a lock in a knot trying to retighten her hair. I was able to get it out. She has a lot of new growth and slippage around her ears. I also want to show how different her hair texture is from most people. She says that her hair is not as 'good' as mine. For that I will cut off a whole lock next time. Just kidding. Actually she said that people ask her if any have broken off since they are so skinny. She said how would she know with so many and would it matter.
I'm also sharing some of the pictures my mother painted. People ask me if I did the paintings. Heck no, my mother did those. I also have Cape Hatteras in another room. I gave a hand at painting and I've been working on the lady for 4 years I guess. Pitiful I know.

You Are My Friend
She's telling me that she has health problem and there's this old man telling me it might be a fuse. The cashier is trying to find the part in the computer and wondering why it says 8 are in stock, but there's only 4. I need just one, ring it up.
It's 500 degrees out, I'm hot, gotta run to the post office, hungry, need to deposit a check. The cop came knocking at 4:45am to tell me my trunk was open. Close it and leave, thank you. Ciara all amped up over my trunk being open. Neither one of could sleep. I meant to get the bottled water out and got busy doing something else. It's my first day as a true employee at the job and I can't be late. I gotta leave there and run over to Precision Tune. Mister Old Man is starting to look like a short, skinny Al Sharpton. Is your hair really honey blond with curls like Terrence in Hustle & Flow? I had to think about Terrence Trent D'arby and how tight his pants were in that video, like those boxer briefs - black spandex boxer briefs, the long ones and the muscles in his buttocks in the bathroom brushing his teeth to block this old man with his honey blond curls. Debit.
My buddy is telling me about a granola recipe and I'm worried about getting stopped leaving work cause my headlight is out. Olive oil and granola don't sound right, what happened to peanut oil or just some regular vegetable oil. Olive oil? I love you to pieces, but I'm thinking about how I didn't get paid Friday and I haven't gotten a call back from the people yet. The temp service has no power cause a truck ran into a pole and they thought I started on the 6th or whatever. I haven't gotten a call back about my front porch post leaning like the Tower of Pisa either. Somebody has time to cook granola. I got taxes to pay and my friend is asking me about my hair. Yes, I'm going to somebody closer, right there by my gig. I do feel like I'm cheating on your. I apologize. Then there comes the phrase that I keep hearing, I always seem to catch you at a bad time, you are busy. I can see Lover's smile and feel Ciara's fur. Happy place, Ciara's fur, Lover's smile. Group hug.
I always answer my phone. If I don't then I'm probably at work actually working or having sex, about to have sex, or just finished having sex. Neighbor, you knew Lover was over and came in with spirits. Don't be key, key, keying and apologizing and grinning hard cause I didn't answer the door. He was not parked in your spot. Stop the madness. You know his car.
Dee, you know I ain't got all the answers. And thank you for making me laugh when the stuff behind the scences makes me want to shut the whole site down and practice skipping beads on a lake.
My parents, my sister I love you until the end of time. I know I call with some outlandish mess. I'm crazy, but it's hard out here for a chick. Root little pig or die. Papa may have, Mama may have, but God bless the child that's got her own. I'm trying to keep from moving in with y'all. Sister, when was the last time that you heard me say, Sister, my sister I love you. I think it was Saturday.
I made it home! Safe. The only thing I forgot was my resume which was all good because the lady wasn't at work. The only thing I have to do tomorrow is wait for a response to an email, read and respond to an email, get my resume, and check on my money, and work. Easy day.
Anyways, the best time to catch me is from 1:30am until 5:30am. Well, actually, that's my YouTube time.
I watched a few Patti Labelle videos of her singing You Are My Friend. I wanted a really special dedication, not something for y'all to laugh at. But, Patti as usual took it way, way there. All the way out there over the rainbow, put the pot of gold in her cleavage, and the spun all over the leprechaun's lucky charms. Why did you have to do all of that Patti?
I picked Faith Evans. I have always like the 'la la la' part of this song. I wish I could sing.

Who's That Lady?
Oh this is awful. My parents even after logging into my youtube account still can't see the video. It's a shame. We are all hurt. And the funny thing about it is - I video taped it, she did it, and my father probably hears her all time. Yet, seeing it on the internet on a poor quality video is really like Broadway right now.

Who's These People?

Blah

Something even worse than a mouse happened last night. But as Prince says, "Would you run to me if somebody hurt you even if that somebody was me." I really don't like talking my business when it involves another person. You always need to hear both sides of the story. And then you need an unbiased witness as well.
Dad, my superman, said to get myself together. Not my house, not my dog, not my job - but me. My health and weight and skin. This mouse in my house has caused me much grief. It started as, I can't even take care of house on my own. My backyard is still not finished. I don't have the energy cause I'm tired. That went from tired to I'm just fat and can't move. To I'm tired because of my job has me running around like a chicken with her head cut off all day. From there it went to my unfinished book and how lazy I have gotten with it because of one person's opinion of it. I then thought that if I had a man - there is Route 66 - a husband then we could fix the yard together. That went into I'll never have a man. And if I do get one then I'll never have children with this mystery ovulation. But I'm independent and can do all things if the money is right. Which I have been spending on tires/car, laser hair treatment, taxes, dog, furniture, and all the other mess I don't even care about anymore. And the two false alarms that are $50 each. My car is filthy and I've been meaning to take it to the man up the street on Saturdays, but I work most Saturdays. Then I got mad because while I'm going through every emotion, I have a dog and mouse living it up care free in my house. They are probably licking their fur or sleeping while I'm spilling my heart out in a blog.
Good old Dad said I need to slow it down and just let nature take it's course. The yard will get done when it's time. My back will clear up when it's time. And Ben will be trapped when it's time. He said I need to stop rushing things and relax.
Please don't even comment. I need no pity or advice. Just touch the screen and wish me well.

Parents
Earlier today I was at Bojangles and this lady left her purse. I took it to the counter and the manager said he couldn't do lost and found because of liabilities. At least put it near the counter where somebody could keep a watch on it. But he asked me if I could put it back where I found it. I did and as I was leaving the cashier asked this white lady if she had left her purse. Umm. I was thinking, why be concerned now and then tell somebody who just walked up to the counter about a missing purse. Boo. Hiss. So, I said, "She's a black lady." They all looked at me and I said, "The lady who left the purse is a black lady." I just wanted to take the purse and try to find the lady myself, but I figured she would be coming back for it soon.
That brings me to my father. Since I could take the purse to the lady, I took the phone to my father. We sat outside and I tried like hell to dig a piece of my mona lisa plant up. Raymond Byers of Richmond, VA gave me this plant for my 22 birthday - which will be 3 years ago on my next birthday, exactly three years. They gave me a bulb some time ago and I tried my best to get it to grow. So, I was digging like Ciara and still couldn't get a good bulb out. So I just broke off a piece. Hopefully it'll root. I have been rooting pieces of plants and potting them and so today I took the time to repot them. Grow babies.
