Ban for Negative Language on BET, MTV, VH1

The lovely and always informative Muslimahlocs brought to my attention that a petition does exsist for negative language on BET.

I don't watch tv. Why? I've already seen every episode of Jeffersons, Good Times, Andy Griffith, Little House on the Praire, Bonanza, Sanford and Son, and What's Happenin. I've watched enough HGTV to know how to lay a heringbone brick pathway. TV should be for learning and some entertaining. But when programs become silly such as the following...

Three simple acting witches
Cheating wives who the media thinks are just so beautiful and they really aren't
Women contending (fighting) to be the love of a former clock-wearing crackhead
Bobby and Whitney (both were beautiful at one time) on air like that
Football icon and bling bling rapper doing the fox trot

...that's when I've had enough. And I was paying for this mess.

When I did watch music videos, I would get a little frisky feeling - why because it's like watching soft porn. Something you have to be at least 18 years old to buy. So why have it on tv when anybody can see it? At least BET did take off the XXXXX rated late night nasty video show.

greetings. thanks for compliments. Mashallah (that which God wills). i do not have a tv either. 99.95 of the programs are so insulting to our intelligence, dignity, common sense, inner spirit, etc. that there wouldn't be much, if anything, to watch anyway.

my child does not even know the word for television even though she has quite an extensive vocabularly. i am still debating about whether and how to introduce the concept, if at all. for now, i think we will skip that lesson.

have a blessed day.

You are welcome. I do not have children and when that time comes I would like to find some DVDs of the old Seasame Street, Electric Company, Reading Rainbow, and 3-2-1 Contact. I don't know if Barney and the Tellie Tubbies have played out but they seem like fluffy demons to me. Like you said, the whole tv and children issue is a major decision.
