Taking the Class, New Tomoka's Twists

I'm going to be a CONSULTANT, well at least a trainee. I'm nervous about it. I always get nervous about taking classes. Since college I took a writing class, Chicago dance steps, ServSafe and became a Certified Food Safety Professional. I tried my hand at painting, cross-stitching, and crocheting.

Since college I'm always been tested chemicals. Seven years in somebody's QA lab. It's not that bad, but I have talents. I'm a star and I need to start living like it. If I keep on doing what I've always done then I'm going to keep on getting what I've always gotten. For the longest time I have been doing what I should do. Playing it safe and taking the road I'm most comfortable with - roads to a lab. I prayed for a sign. Signs are sometimes obvious and I choose to ignore them because of course I have to do things my way. Or sometimes I just miss them because my mind is always curning on me, men, money, and other mess. Therefore I have to see signs in dreams for me to really understand them. For instance I had a dream that I was given dreadlocks by mistake. A few weeks later, I had Sisterlocks.

I was at work one day and the print out of Cain and Abel I have in my cube wasn't helping anymore. I was horribly wroth and wanted to smote all Abels. I prayed something like, "God, I'm better than this. I'm glad for this job, it pays the bills, but I can't keep doing this. I'm not trying to be a Cain and Able, but I need something else."

Then I had a dream that I was doing hair and putting a Tomoka's Twist in a lady's hair. And I'm still nervous. The class couldn't be any sooner or closer either. I had this epithany August 8th and the class starts on September 15th right in Charlotte which is about 1 hour away from me.
Meet Tomoka's Twists Groovy Blues, Groovy Green, and Parade. The clay beads for the Groovy's are handmade made by Art by Craftingangelgirl. The beads are designed to fit on the lock (traditional ones) and she has many sizes and colors. I took one and put it on a large bobby pin.

Relax! The class will be great. You will be great.

You never know -- you could end up using both talents (hair + lab) and making new shampoos and conditioners for locks!

good for you. do you know if dr. c will be teaching the class?

Thanks Brunsli. My consultant did just that. And I do know how to make soap thanks to Ecolab/Kay who makes all sorts of cleaning products for McD's. I actually made my own version of the SLs starter shampoo, but put too much coconut fat in it.

I was a bundle of nerves after spending a good portion of a night on comparing hotels. I was hoping to stay at the hotel where the class is taught Holiday Inn at the airport. I had a seminar there before and thought the hotel was ok, but of course I didn't see the rooms. The area is a bit on the rough side and reviews of the hotel and area are AWFUL. I was stressing out about that and then the hotel is $100+ a night and I'd stay three nights. I have mortgage to pay. So, I've decided to drive down there, pack a few clothes and play it by ear. If I like the hotel, I'll stay and if I see lot lizards and shady events, I'll hit the road and stay at the CarmenNC Inn.

Thank you Muslimahlocs. Blenna Williams will be teaching the class.

Thank you ladies!!! I hope un-Sisterlock ladies will be glad I took the class too. And I had a thought, I wonder if I will be able to retighten my own hair now. For the retightening class your locks have to be mature. Mine aren't. HAHAHA. I'll give it a shot, but I'm enjoy having my consultant do my hair.

Carmen--
Thanks for commenting on my page. You'll get faster. I still only do small sections at a time when I retighten, but it makes my arms tired...lol.
If a consultant can retighten you in around an hour or two, it does seem worth the price when you're sitting there doing it yourself! Especially since they are looking at what they are doing! I've accidentally connected locks, made knots and all other kinds of calamities. I can't tell you how many times I prayed out loud I'd be able to feel my way out of a boo-boo...lol.
But it's worth it if you're looking to save money to do it yourself. After awhile it gets more familiar. I haven't tied a knot in my hair in I don't know how long...haha!
