Hair, The Boogie Man & Quilts, Photography

I washed my hair. I have a few SLs that are pretty much not my favorites because they hang longer than the rest of them. I will ask Ayana if something can be done about these.
I bought a quilt. Thank you Dad for this solution to baking under my comforter at night. Who also probably remembers my fear of the Boogie Man. As most of you already know, you have to be covered while sleeping in order to protect yourself from the Boogie Man. A sheet will work, but the heavier the fabric the better. I felt like the sales lady at Dillards understood this too because she said, "I have to have something on me at night."

I was also introduced to the coverlet. I quickly turned my nose up to Mr. Coverlet the same way I did Ms. Duvet when I saw the price. I could not justify buying a duvet is priced about $10 less than the comforter. Maybe people buy the plain white down comforters more than I think. I stood there imagining how ridiculously difficult it has to be to shimmy a comforter into a duvet. Sounds too much like work to me. The duvet could be used as a quilt/coverlet, but that's not its purpose. The coverlets were solid with decorative stiching, but putting a solid color on the bed seemed too plain for me. The quilts were - well quilts and had the ugliest designs ever. After two weeks of searching in store and online, I came up with this set at Sears. Yummy yellow. I will miss you Blue/White.

My camera isn't picking up this yellow and it's blurry. See how the yellow toss pillows look differently on these two pictures. I even took a picture of the yellow from the foot of bed like with the blue set and it's still blurry. Any suggestions are welcomed.

your hair looks really nice. i love the cute curls on the ends. has your hair started to lock above those curls? so is your room really this neat or did you throw everything on the floor for the photo shoot?

nice quilt!! Personally, I would never buy anything but duvets. Why? I get to switch up the look of my bed without having to own bulky quilts. I have one comforter and like 6 duvet covers. Sweeeet! Plus, placing the comforter inside the duvert is not as hard as you might think.

Girl, will you leave your locks alone??? Let them settle and then cut them in a year. tuck the longish ones behind your ear or something. No one will notice... :)

Don't go cutting -- one will be longer now, another will unravel a bit and be longer later...if you cut, you might end up at the same place, just shorter.

As for your linens - I'm a big fan of the duvet cover. I use a fitted sheet, and a down comforter wrapped in a duvet (no topsheet). The duvet cover and fitted sheet can be washed every week, which is a big advantage over regular comforters. I usually buy lines from overstock.com, but lately I haven't been impressed -- I have an order I'm about to send back. HTH!

Naadii Salaam, I've had those yellow toss pillows for years. My mother picked them up because they were $3 and finally I have something to go with them.

Muslimah, my room stays pretty neat. I have a bounty of lotions/sprays/perfumes/candles stationed around. They are neatly placed on trays but it can look cluttered by the end of a work week. I did take the laptop, cell and house phones off the bed. Just don't look in the bedroom closet. Thank you for the compliment and my hair is starting to bud. I think.

Sunsail & Brunsli, *kicking can* I do have this plain tan Ralph Lauren comforter. Hush, I got her for $20. It's way too heavy for the summer so this winter I'll try stuffing the it into a duvet - red and white, maybe. Then in the summer I could just put the duvet on the bed like a quilt. I'll look for one online now.

As far as my hair. I'll leave it alone. They'll probably be the best locks that I have.

Your hair is so cuutteee, I love the curls.

I have a couple that hang down more than others, they seem to be the thinner ones and I'm just hoping they'll either thicken up or shrink up.

Oooohhhhh.....I like the new quilt.

I've had the same experience. I have 4 - 8 that hang longer at any given time. Seems to be the thinner finer hair that is around my ears. This does happen to be convenient though because I can tuck them and no one knows unless I go pulling at them.

I actually took some pics I haven't posted yet...too busy being political at the moment I suppose.

Great find on the quilt. SCORE! BONUS! It IS hard finding a quilt that doesn't look like it belongs on your grandma's couch! Or draped across an invalid's lap. But, you did it!

I love how your hair looks now. I really hope mine is that long by the end of the year. I feel like this fluffy bit that's hovering around my ears will NEVER reach my chin and then my shoulders.

Such nit-pickers aren't we? It's like we can't be happy unless we have SOMEthing to be unhappy about.

Blackrussian,
When I was looking at quilts I was like there is no way I'm putting those hideous designs on my bed. I'd probably have nightmares. The Boogie Man would probably get me good for having it on my bed. HAHAHA. This one isn't as bad because the colors and patterns run together and the reverse side is just strips. I'm thinking about flipping to that side right now.

Thank you for the compliment too. I'm really liking how it's turning out. I just had to get that - these few long skinny pieces thoughts - out of my system. And to get "LEAVE THEM ALONE" advice. I won't mess with them if somebody says not to because if I cut them and they mess up I'll set myself up for "I told you so."

Your hair is looking beautiful. I know the few stray strands are an annoyance. I have a couple that behave the same way too.

I like your covers. They are cute!

I like the way your locks are filling out, giving you a cute bobbed look.

Nice linens, by the way. I like the soft yellows and cool blues.
